Day 6: Letting Go, Trusting God, and Reclaiming Peace in the Quiet Moments

Day 6 of Journal of an Ordinary Man is a gentle, steady reflection on calmness, healing, and the slow work of letting go. After a peaceful evening decorating the Christmas tree, sharing pot pie with my wife and daughter, and enjoying a quiet night of TV shows, I take a moment to acknowledge a legal battle that has weighed on me for more than two years. A lawsuit for fraud I didn’t commit has been a constant source of fear and stress, but today brought a shift—finally, progress and truth surfacing.

I share my excitement about returning to my hiking routine and how this journal has already softened my reactions and increased my awareness. Today brought nothing painful, nothing heavy—just small reminders that life can feel good and that God often shows up most clearly in the calm.

In the backstory section, I open up about my decade-long connection to the marijuana industry—how I was dragged into it, what I learned from it, and the lawsuits still tied to it. This journal is helping me detach, trust my attorneys, and stop over-managing every detail.

The “Unique Question of the Day” explores what I’ve been avoiding, and honestly, journaling itself has pushed me to avoid nothing. Spiritually, I anchor the day in Matthew 1:22–23, reflecting on the meaning of “Immanuel—God with us,” and how Jesus’ physical presence reshapes our understanding of faith.

If you’re navigating fear, transitions, legal stress, or simply searching for God in the quiet spaces of life, this episode offers a grounded, honest look at how peace begins in small, intentional steps.
